Less than six months ago, the world didn’t have the fabulous foursome of Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, and Patrick and Brittany Mahomes. By January 2024, the tight-knit group showed how fast a friendship had developed after a cozy New Year’s Eve snapshot circulated on the internet.
From the body language alone, it’s easy to see that Swift and Brittany’s bond is a close one. (See the photo HERE.) With Kelce mugging for the camera, the “Shake It Off” singer enveloped her boyfriend with a loving hand over his shoulder. Wearing her stunning sparkly dress, Swift leaned back into Brittany with her head affectionately resting on her friend. Patrick stood behind his wife with his arms wrapped around her. Brittany made sure to hold her husband’s hand but also cuddled into Swift and sweetly grabbed her upper arm. We love this friendship circle so much!
When Swift first came on the NFL scene, Brittany’s critics were claiming that the women would be nothing but frenemies. One X user wrote last fall, “Kinda crazy that Taylor Swift is the most famous person in the Chiefs locker room. Brittany Mahomes has to be punching air.” While the naysayers were probably hoping for the very sexist cat-fight scenario, the opposite has come true. The dynamic duo has become a force to be reckoned with in the suites at Arrowhead Stadium, showing each other nothing but grace and kindness.
Patrick was thrilled when his wife befriended Swift because it gave him “a firsthand look” into his pal’s blossoming relationship. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback had nothing but praise for the 34-year-old singer in a recent interview with CBS Mornings. “It’s cool that she’s embraced Brittany and they’ve built a friendship as well,” Patrick said. “So, for me, it’s Travis, and he’s lucky enough to be with a great girl and a great woman. It’s been cool to interact with her.”
It’s also likely that Brittany gave Swift the rundown on what it’s like to be an NFL WAG. The ins and outs of any team can be tricky to navigate, so the music superstar was probably grateful to have her support in a new city — especially one who also protected her privacy. And since everyone wants to be a part of Swift’s girl squad, there was definitely a payoff for Brittany, who can now count Gigi Hadid and Blake Lively as new friends. Swift’s friendship with Brittany has only made watching football even more exciting because networks know the powerful draw of the two women together.
