Meghan Markle was nowhere near the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday night, but she certainly was a hot topic of conversation. Her former Suits co-star Patrick J. Adams, who presented at the show along with Gabriel Macht, had some thoughts about the Duchess of Sussex returning to her acting roots.
“I think Meghan is a fantastic actress,” Adams told E! News. “We’d be lucky to have her back in the industry.” After the success of Suits on Peacock and Netflix this summer, fans have been clamoring for Adams and the Duchess of Sussex to reunite on-screen — a continuation of Mike Ross and Rachel Zane’s love story. With a Los Angeles spinoff in the works that is supposed to somehow align with the Suits universe, the actor is “ready” for “Mike and Rachel in Seattle,” where their characters settled down.
The renewed interest in the USA drama “totally astounded” Adams and he loves that “it’s found a second life” on steaming. “I feel honored. When you walk away from a show, you think that’s it and you’re going to move on to something else and just to know that a whole new generation of people are finding it and loving it—loving it almost more than they loved it the first time around, it’s incredible,” he said.
Adams would probably have to do a lot of convincing because Meghan made it pretty clear in an October 2022 Variety interview that her acting door had officially closed. “No. I’m done. I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not,” she said firmly. Of course, this was well before Suits was the show of Summer 2023 and before the end of her Spotify deal. She didn’t shut the door completely, so perhaps reconsidering a Suits cameo could be on her 2024 New Year’s list.
