Jennifer Lopez’s Supportive Defense of Ben Affleck Gives Insight Into Their High-Profile Marriage

Ben Affleck gets teased by fans for his “Sad Affleck” face in paparazzi photos and press junkets, but he has someone who will always defend his honor: his wife, Jennifer Lopez. She wants everyone to know that everything is OK behind the scenes and perhaps people could mind their business just a little bit.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the Golden Globes on Sunday, Lopez responded to the internet chatter about her husband’s sometimes glum look in snapshots. “Ben is doing alright. You don’t need to worry about Ben, let me just tell you,” she responded. “He is good. He is happy. He is here — he is nominated. I’m chilling, I don’t understand what people are so pressed for.”

The 54-year-old singer doesn’t get why there is such a focus on Affleck’s well-being based on photo assumption. She noted, “They don’t pick up on my face.” The duo did not walk the red-carpet last night for interviews. They stood for photos and the Air director let J.Lo go ahead and do press — which is exactly on-brand for the two of them. He would rather not do interviews while his wife is more press-friendly.

Even Jimmy Kimmel asked his bestie about his sad resting face, which became a meme in 2016, after they attended a 2022 Christmas party together. “It did seem like you weren’t as psyched about the party as everybody else was,” Kimmel said.

“See that’s a common misconception about me,” Affleck explained.

“Tell your face,” Kimmel quipped.

“Listen, I have a very unhappy-looking resting face,” Affleck said while mugging a variety of emotions toward the camera. “It’s how God made me; you don’t have to punish me for it.”

Now, Lopez is telling everyone to back off. Her man is fine, they are fine, but Affleck’s sad resting face won’t go away anytime soon.
