New Insiders Revealed Meghan Markle Was Actually Invited to the Long-Awaited Golden Globe Suits Reunion

On Sunday night, four of the main stars of Suits, Patrick J. Adams, Sarah Rafferty, Gina Torres and Gabriel Macht, joined onstage at the Golden Globe Awards for a long-awaited reunion for the fans. And while the reunion was already enough for any Suits fan to go wild, others kept asking themselves: where’s Meghan Markle?

As it turns out, the Duchess of Sussex was reportedly invited to join the quartet but decided to turn down the invitation instead. “We asked the duchess, but we were told that, unfortunately, she had a previous commitment,” an insider for the awards show told Page Six.

And while we’re still unsure what prior commitment Markle had that night, it seems like her lack of contact with her former co-stars may have also played a role. According to Torres, for example, Markle is not on their group chat which was buzzing when the reunion opportunity came about.

“We don’t have her number,” she told Variety on the carpet. “We just don’t. So she’ll see, she’ll watch. She’ll be happy that we’re here.”

And while her presence at the reunion was sorely missed by fans, some of the host Jo Koy‘s jokes make us glad she wasn’t in the room.

“How great was Imelda Staunton in The Crown, wasn’t she amazing?” Koy said at one point on stage. “The portrayal of the queen was so good Prince Harry called her and asked her for money.”

“Turns out Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will still get paid millions of dollars for doing absolutely nothing — and that’s just by Netflix,” Koy quipped, as the cameras panned to Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.

Could she have taken the joke in stride at the event? Sure! Are we glad she watched it all in the comfort of her own home with her family? Also yes!
