Jennifer Lawrence Admitted That Her Star-Studded Wedding Was Not a Dream Come True

Everyone tells you that your wedding day is one of the best days of your life, but Jennifer Lawrence is revealing that it isn’t always a dream come true. This isn’t a reflection on her marriage to Cooke Maroney whatsoever, but it is a testament that there’s so much pressure placed upon the actual event that some brides don’t always enjoy it.

Lawrence shared her tale with E! News on the red carpet the Golden Globes and told the story with her usual self-deprecating humor. “It’s so stressful,” she explained. “You’re not having fun. You’re just like, ‘Is that person having fun?'” Her biggest worry was about her guests “being cold” at the Belcourt mansion in Newport, Rhode Island. “And all of my friends were lying they’re like, ‘Nobody’s cold, nobody’s cold, everything’s fine, everything’s fine.,'” the Oscar winner claimed. “My mom was like, ‘It’s freezing out there, your grandmother almost died.”

At her rehearsal dinner, Lawrence became very concerned about her Silver Linings Playbook costar, Robert DeNiro, who didn’t seem to be enjoying the festive (and cold) event. “I looked over and I saw Bob, who doesn’t know anybody and he’s kind of wandering around, and I immediately was like, ‘No, this isn’t what he wants to be doing. I don’t want him here,'” she said. “So I went over and whispered, I was like, ‘Go home’ and he was nice—he like talked to my parents and was polite—but I was like, ‘Go.’

Being the truly frank celeb that she is, Lawrence admitted that after DeNiro left, “That just genuinely made me feel better.” She generally thought that it was “awful” being a bride, no matter how humorously she tells her story. We have a feeling that DeNiro probably also appreciated the nudge to go home after he got the bride’s stamp of approval.

Lawrence married Maroney in October 2019 with plenty of A-listers in attendance, including Adele, Cameron Diaz, Amy Schumer, Nicole Richie and Kris Jenner. “It was an all-night party. Jen and Cooke were the last people to leave at 5:30 a.m.,” a source shared with People. “They waited until all the guests were gone so they could personally say goodbye. When they left, Jen looked happy, but also a bit tired. She also looked stunning in a jeweled dress.” The couple became parents in February 2022 when they welcomed son, Cy, to their family, and we bet they can’t wait to share the tale with him of sending DeNiro home from their wedding.
