Thanks to Barbie‘s prominent place in the awards season conversation, we’ve been treated to quite a few adoring, romantic shout-outs between Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes. The couple is notoriously private. But over the course of the last few months, they’ve given fans a glimpse of their strong bond. Gosling’s latest shout-out to Mendes had us absolutely swooning, and you’re going to love what he had to say about his longtime love.
On Saturday night, Gosling attended the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, where he was honored with the Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film, per People. During his speech, the Barbie star took some time to thank Mendes and their two young daughters. While sharing how his work has allowed him various opportunities, Gosling noted, “Most importantly, I got to meet the girl of my dreams, Eva Mendes, and have two dream children.”

We don’t know about you, but we have a tear or two in our eyes after reading that. Gosling also said, “I dreamed of one day making movies, and now, movies have made my life a dream.” Mendes and Gosling’s romance feels like the stuff of Hollywood movie magic.
The couple met more than a decade ago and worked together on the 2012 film The Place Beyond the Pines. Gosling and Mendes two daughters were born a few years later in 2014 and 2016. Since the beginning of their relationship, the couple has made a concerted effort to keep certain aspects of their relationship as private as possible, and we honestly don’t blame them.
But we still love to see the small ways these two publicly support and dote on one another. Since the Barbie press tour, Gosling and Mendes have been sending each other sweet shout-outs and touching public declarations of affection. With awards season in full swing, we’re bound to see more from these two. We’re just glad they feel comfortable sharing.
