There were a lot of highlights from last night’s Critics Choice Awards. From touching speeches to unscripted exchanges, audiences watching at home got a pretty good show. But one moments we still can’t stop thinking about is the sweet tribute Harrison Ford made to wife Calista Flockhart during his Career Achievement Award acceptance speech.
The longtime actor took the stage to accept his award following a generous introduction from Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold, per People. Upon taking the stage, Ford thanked longtime collaborators, filmmakers, and more for the incredible opportunities they afforded him throughout his decades-long career. Then, he got a little bit emotional talking about his wife of nearly 14 years.
“I want to thank my lovely wife, Calista Flockhart, who supports me when I need a lot of support,” Ford said. “And I need a lot of support.” Prior to the main event, Ford and Flockhart were photographed looking so in love on the red carpet of the Critics Choice Awards. While they beamed for a few snapshots, the two also took a few moments here and there to smile at one another and relish their special evening.
Ford and Flockhart met in the early aughts and became engaged in 2009. The couple wed roughly one year later in 2010. While the two are fairly private when it comes to their personal lives, we’ve gotten more and more insight into their marriage over the last few years.
We never tire of seeing these two hit the red carpet, and there have been a few very touching moments we didn’t expect from them — remember that adorably candid photo of Ford just admiring how stunning his wife looked before another red carpet? The years have certainly not diminished the love and adoration these two share. Ford’s words perfectly encapsulate just how much Flockhart means to him.
