This is not a drill: another SKIMS ad just dropped, and it may be our favorite of all time (especially since Lana Del Rey gets to fully embrace the coquette trend in it)!
On Jan 18, Kim Kardashian shared a series of photos of Del Rey being the latest celebrity to model for SKIMS, and Del Rey absolutely stole the show. Kardashian shared the photos with the caption reading, “Our @SKIMS Valentine LANA DEL REY. Music’s queen of hearts @honeymoon opens our dedicated Valentine’s Shop on Tuesday, January 23 at 9AM PT / 12PM ET.” She also tagged who made the shoot possible by adding, “Photo: @nadialeecohen”
You can see the photos HERE!
In the first photo, we see Del Rey looking absolutely stunning as she models the blue bodysuit in a blue silk, heart-shaped box, followed by 1960s-inspired pics of Del Rey modeling a pink satin set in a red, cat-filled room and of her wearing another pink set inside a flower-clad frame.
We see a pic of Del Rey in an all-black ensemble with an arrow in her chest, another V-day look of heart-shaped pajamas (with an accompanying video), one of her in a red body suit and a heart-shaped eye-patch look. Then we end the post with another video and a shot of her in the same, all-black ensemble.
So this campaign is not only the chicest Valentine’s Day ad we’ve ever seen, but this may be SKIMS’ most iconic ad to date. (And we’re not the only ones who think so!) Fans swarmed to the post, commenting things like: “Kim kardashian this is the most iconic thing you have ever done,” “I gasped so hard ..,” and “your best campaign yet ❤️”
Now, not only is this ad combining a bunch of Valentine’s Day looks, but it’s the perfect campaign to have Del Rey on since it’s heavily inspired by the coquette trend.
For those who don’t know, the coquette trend dreamy, ultra-girly trend that has taken the internet by storm. It’s all about romanticism, from how you live your daily life to your aesthetic. The aesthetic itself is all about bows, pearls, and dreamy looks that take inspiration from vintage looks and the Japanese lolita aesthetic.
People even said that Del Rey was one of the stars who truly brought the trend to the forefront, which makes this ad even more perfect!
In a previous interview with the Daily Mirror, per NDTV, Del Rey talked about how she finds confidence in everyday things that bring her joy. “I think for me, what makes me confident changes every day. But generally, I would say confidence for me just comes from being really happy. And that could be anything down to my environment or being lucky enough to have my muse with me or (hearing) an amazing melody for the first time,” she said.
