Despite being a fashion icon decades after her death, and the center of many novels, there’s not much known about Carolyn Bessette. There isn’t much known about her life before entering the PR world, and then being a Kennedy. Heck, even then, she was quite private about everything, including her voice. Let us explain: despite going to numerous high society events with her husband, JFK Jr, there aren’t many clips of her talking available on the internet. But some internet sleuths tracked down a few, which total about 11 seconds, and people are swarming to hear the late Bessette’s real voice after being shrouded in mystery for so long.
Bessette never did an interview, and to avoid the press, she didn’t speak to them. Sleuths from Town and Country found two videos available on YouTube, which you can watch HERE and HERE!
In the first clip, we see Bessette at the 1998 Fire and Ice Ball, and Entertainment Tonight briefly talks to her. She said, “It was a very exciting evening,” and when asked what her favorite part of the night was, she said: “The entire evening was spectacular. There was no highlight.” This clip lasted eight seconds.
Then, there’s another three-second clip of her talking to the press at the Newman’s Own/George Awards ceremony. It’s unclear what was asked, but we hear her saying, “I think it’s sort of fabulous, I hope they’re all sitting with me.”
As you can hear, she had a deeper tone in her voice. She spoke confidently and with purpose, and it’s almost like you could tell more of who she was in these brief clips.
For those who don’t know, Bessette was born on Jan 7, 1966, and everyone knew she was born for something great. The Boston University alum became a star in the fashion world, and then she went on to marry JFK Jr. However, they tragically died, along with her older sister Lauren, in a plane crash on July 16, 1999, off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard.
