Whether you read Rick Riordan’s five-book series Percy Jackson & the Olympians when you were younger, or are now reading it to your kids, the novels are a true perfect blend of entertaining and informative. After all, there’s nothing quite like learning all about Greek mythology through nail-biting fights and puzzling quests.
And while Riordan’s books should always be treasured, his stories got a whole new light this year with the release of the Disney+ series by the same name. The show, which stars newcomers Walker Scobell, Leah Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri, follows demigod Percy Jackson in his quest to find and win back the lost master lightning bold and, in turn, save the world.
Also starring in the show are some incredible guest stars including Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes, Megan Mullally as Alecto, Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus, and many others.
“After four years of work, I am delighted to announce that the first two episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians are NOW streaming,” Riordan shared on his website following the release. “The early reviews have been incredible. 97% certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes? I mean . . . that’s beyond my wildest hopes, but this cast and crew worked very hard to make it this good.”
