Dolly Parton Admitted Her Husband Warned Her About That Revealing Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Uniform

Dolly Parton stunned the world with her form-fitting Dallas Cowboys cheerleader uniform at a Thanksgiving Day football game performance last year. She proved how fabulous 77 can be, but not everyone appreciated her campy wardrobe decision — and there was someone who warned her ahead of time: her husband, Carl Dean.

The country superstar recalled her conversation with her rarely-seen husband, sharing with Page Six, “He did say something like, ‘What? Is it, a little short, don’t you think?” She recalled her response was, “No! It’s not as short as theirs,” in reference to the professional cheerleading squad. Anyone who has followed Parton’s career knows that her wardrobe is anything but subtle. Her choice to pretend to be a member of the women’s dance team was designed “to be funny.”

“I thought, if I can, if I could pull this off, that’d be a cool little thing to do,” she told the media outlet. “I thought most people would excuse me if it didn’t turn out. I thought, they’re just like us, some older woman making a bad mistake. Or I thought, well, maybe it’ll just be something cool to do.” Parton was well-covered with a skin-tone bodysuit embellished with rhinestones which she wore underneath the iconic white booty shorts and blue crop top.

Of course, there were plenty of critics who told Parton to “dress her age” (whatever that means), but supermodel Christie Brinkley offered her support on Instagram. “You should know you can’t define an icon like Dolly Parton by a number! Also immeasurable are her too numerous to count talents, her boundless good energy and effervescent humor, and her golden philanthropic heart full of love,” she wrote in the caption. “The fact that she can also rock a Dallas cheerleader outfit too, is inspiring and fun!” Brinkley ended her praise with a suggestion that Parton model for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue next. Hey, if Martha Stewart can do it, so can Parton!

The “Jolene” singer even went home on her private jet in her Dallas Cowboys cheerleader uniform. She didn’t have time to change, so she gracefully added a robe over her outfit. The queen of country went home in style — just don’t tell her husband.
