The relationship between the late Queen Elizabeth II and her heir King Charles III was always unique. Indeed, it was a complicated bond between a mother and son, but it was also a working relationship established within The Firm. The late monarch and current sovereign didn’t always agree on everything. But one moment of upheaval within the royal family brought the two even closer together.

“Harry and Meghan’s departure brought Charles and his mother closer together,” Robert Hardman, the author of The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy, told People.
