Hugh Hefner’s widow Crystal Hefner has been putting out bombshell after bombshell in her new memoir, Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself. While many former bunnies and exes of Hugh’s have condemned the piece, many others have praised Crystal for her honesty. In her blunt debut book, Crystal told everyone her reality of being one of Hugh’s partners. She’s detailed the beauty rules she had to follow, the mental anguish she faced, and the insanely low paycheck she got for two iconic shows?!

If humungous pay gaps boil your blood, then you need to get ready for this one. Crystal claimed that while Hugh made an insane amount on the shows Girls Next Door and Marrying Hef, she made virtually nothing.

For those who don’t know, there were two major projects, with a show about living in the Playboy Mansion and a special on Crystal and Hugh’s marriage.

The more well-known project was the show called The Girls Next Door, which ran from 2005 to 2010, and showed the behind-the-scenes lives of Hugh’s then-three main girlfriends Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson. Later, Crystal joined the cast in the sixth and final season.

Per Crystal’s book, Hugh reportedly made $400,000 an episode, while Crystal reportedly made a mere fraction of that.

As for the second project, Marrying Hef, it was a Lifetime docu-special about Crystal and Hugh. She claimed that Hugh made $800,000, and she only made $2,500. (We know, we’re wondering how that’s even possible, it’s so infuriating).

Now, Crystal wasn’t the only former star to claim they made nothing on the projects. Back in 2022, Madison and Marquardt revealed on Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald that they made “very little” on the first season of the show Girls Next Door, per DailyMail.

We hate this pattern, and that they weren’t given fair wages, despite being stars of the projects.

For those who don’t know, Crystal and Hugh started dating in 2008, and got engaged in 2010. After a brief split the following year, they married on New Year’s Eve in 2012, and were together until his death in 2017.
