Gisele Bündchen’s Recent Loss Sheds a Whole New Light on Why Family Time Has Been So Important to Her Lately

Ever since her divorce at the end of 2022, Gisele Bündchen has kept her family as her number one priority. From beginning to homeschool her kids Ben, 13, and Vivian, 10, to taking regular trips to her home country of Brazil, it was clear to her fans that having family time was how the supermodel was planning to heal.

On Jan. 28, however, news that Bündchen’s mother, Vânia Nonnenmacher, died following a battle with cancer at age 75, sheds another light on the situation. The news of Nonnenmacher’s passing was confirmed by her hospital in Porto Alegre, Brazil, People reports.

With the news, it’s safe to say that in addition to spending time with family to heal from her own relationship, Bündchen was also surely being there for her mother as well. Nonnenmacher was also a mother to the model’s twin Patricia as well as daughters Rafaela, Graziela, Gabriela and Raquel.

And while the news of her mom’s passing comes as a surprise, Bündchen once referenced her parents’ struggles while reflecting on her past few “tough” years. “It’s been very tough on my family,” Bündchen told People in September as she confirmed that both her parents were ill. “It’s been a lot — in every area of my life.”

“I feel like whenever it rains, it pours,” she continued. “With all the different twists and turns that life takes, all we can do is the best we can given what happens in our surroundings.”

Also in September, Bündchen posted a carousel of pictures from a trip to Brazil which, of course, included many pictures of her mother. In one photo, Nonnenmacher and 13-year-old Ben as seen sharing a sweet and tender hug.

“Always in my heart and prayers ❤️,” Bündchen wrote in the caption.

Our hearts go out to the Bündchen-Nonnenmacher family at this time.
