Kim Kardashian Is Making Power Plays in Hollywood by Taking on This Icon’s Life Story

Kim Kardashian is setting herself up for major longevity in Hollywood, and it doesn’t involve a reality show. She’s developing a docuseries about a pop-culture icon that will have her working on and off-camera — and mark our words, there will be a bidding war from the networks to distribute it.

Kim is producing a documentary on one of her favorite old-Hollywood stars, Elizabeth Taylor. Not only will Kim be featured in the series, but other familiar faces including Joan Collins and Margaret O’Brien will be sharing their stories of friendship with the legend, according to Deadline. It will be a three-part series that promises to dive deep into her philanthropy and smart business moves that were decades ahead of the modern-day influencer trend.

“Elizabeth Taylor was unapologetically herself, a fighter,” Kim told the media outlet. “She is proof that you can keep evolving and changing and have different chapters in your life – and she paved the way for all of us who came after her with that blueprint.” For Kardashian fans who have been paying close attention to Kim’s desire to make her mark in Hollywood, her respect for Taylor is not surprising. 

In addition to Kim conducting Taylor’s last interview for Harper’s Bazaar a little over a month before her 2011 death, she idolized the Oscar winner for years. Kate Andersen Brower, author of , told SheKnows that there are incredible “parallels” between the women’s lives. “Kim is definitely building on what Elizabeth started,” she noted. From business to her love life, the similarities are hard to ignore. 

Brower puts them in their own elite category as “ultra-celebrities,” the “multi-hyphenate influencers,” who dared to be ahead of their time. This docuseries will allow Kim to not only honor Taylor’s legacy but offer a love letter to the woman who shattered glass ceilings so the Kardashian empire could thrive.
