Kate Middleton’s Royal Duties Have Reportedly Resumed in This Subtle Way During Recovery

Kate Middleton is working on her recovery from planned abdominal surgery, but her release from The London Clinic may give a hint about her paused royal duties as well. Even though the Princess of Wales’ top priority is focusing on her health, she’s reportedly keeping an eye on her passion projects ahead of her spring return.

“I have heard that the Princess of Wales has been responding to emails, but everything has been structured so that she is not overwhelmed or disturbed by incoming dialogue,” royal expert Kinsey Schofield told Fox News Digital. The insider doesn’t believe that this will signal an early return to her royal role, but it does show how focused Kate is on her early childhood education initiative and other patronages. The workload, however, will continue to be light.

“Kate is not a rule breaker,” Schofield added. “She is going to follow the doctor’s orders but engage when she can, so she doesn’t feel behind. I don’t expect to see her in an official capacity until Easter, but I believe she is engaged behind the scenes.” The palace has not wavered from her expected Easter return which is in late March, depending on her rate of recovery, and clearance from her doctors. The only update royal fans have heard is that the Princess of Wales “is making good progress.”

Kate is reportedly leaning on Prince William, her parents Carole and Michael Middleton and her trusted adviser, Natasha Archer, for support during this delicate time. With the palace’s superstar out of rotation, and the Prince of Wales taking some time off, it has exposed how thinned-out the royal ranks are. King Charles III’s “slimmed-down” approach to the monarchy requires other senior royals to pick up the slack, and it leaves other patronages and appearances neglected because they can’t be everywhere at once.

Anne criticized Charles’ “slimmed-down monarchy” plan before her brother took the throne to CBC News: The National, noting that it “doesn’t sound like a good idea from where I’m standing.” She added, “I think that ‘slimmed down’ was said in a day when there were a few more people to make that seem like a justifiable comment. I’m not quite sure what else we can do.”

Hopefully, Kate isn’t feeling the pressure to work while her body recovers from surgery. If she’s keeping up with her communications, we hope it’s her choice to do so because as with any health issue, it’s important to take the time you need to rest and recuperate.
