Bijou Phillips, former spouse of That ’70s Show star Danny Masterson, stepped into the limelight at a 2024 Grammys viewing party, giving an unexpected glimpse into her life since her high-profile divorce.
Masterson, once a beloved sitcom actor, was convicted of rape charges and sentenced to 30 years in prison in September 2023. As Masterson’s trial unfolded and the gravity of his actions came to light, their marriage came under intense scrutiny.
Yet, throughout this troubling period, Phillips remained steadfastly by Masterson’s side, even calling him a “life-saving partner to me” in a character letter on his behalf during the trial. “Danny is an amazing father,” she continued. “Our daughter and I are heartbroken that he is not home with us. It has been very difficult without him here. Even though he is now in jail, he calls her every day. He helps her with homework every night.”
This is why many were confused when she ultimately filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences,” following the conviction, with some legal experts suggesting that the separation was more for financial reasons than emotional ones.
After the dust settled on Masterson’s conviction and their subsequent divorce, Phillips retreated from the public eye, focusing on herself and her young daughter, Fianna Francis Masterson. She reportedly left the Church of Scientology earlier this year, and at a Grammy’s viewing party, she offered a rare glimpse into her life post-divorce.
“I’m doing good,” she told E! News at Janie’s Fund Grammy viewing party and charity event. The actress further mentioned that she and her 9-year-old daughter Fianna Francis Masterson have formed a “great little team.” She now has full custody of their daughter and seems to be focusing on life as a single parent more than anything else.
Following the divorce, Phillips seems to be finding her footing again. She’s been slowly sharing her life with the public. Back in December, she shared snaps of “the most needed vacation” on social media as she soaked up the sun in the Bahamas. And now, it seems she is ready to slowly but surely step back into the public eye in real life as well.
