King Charles III’s Cancer Diagnosis Might Be a Game-Changer for His Relationship With Prince Harry

On Monday, King Charles III revealed the shocking news that he’s facing a second health battle in the wake of his enlarged prostate treatment. His unspecified cancer diagnosis sent shockwaves throughout the royal family‘s fanbase, but his condition also reportedly sparked a private conversation with son, Prince Harry.

The monarch shared his diagnosis with both of his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, separately, according to People. That news has triggered a possible game-changing event in the rift between the father and son as Harry is reportedly heading to see his dad in the U.K. It may be a breakthrough in a family feud that had generated countless headlines since the Duke of Sussex’s 2020 exit from the palace. Until now, there had been no end in sight in healing their differences.

Nobody ever wants to see a family member suffer a health crisis, but this diagnosis may shift all of the hard feelings from the last four years, including any revelations from Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare. With the Daily Mailreporting that the visit will happen “in the coming” days as Charles begins his cancer treatment, the source seems to think that Harry’s presence “indicates the seriousness” of the king’s health condition.

While this moment of care with a son rushing to his father’s side may broker peace between them, there seems to be no thawing of Harry’s relationship with Prince William. The Prince of Wales also has his plate full in taking care of Kate Middleton after her “planned abdominal surgery” and keeping their three children on track with their busy school schedules. William is expected to return to his official royal duties on Wednesday now that Kate is on the road to recovery.

The latest palace setback has only emphasized how thin the royal ranks are — when one or two of the family members take a step back, it’s quite obvious. The current situation is going to place quite the burden on Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. Queen Camilla and Prince William will be making public appearances, but with a schedule that still allows them to spend time with their ailing spouses. And there’s also the mental health aspect to what the family is going through. So, let’s hope Prince Harry’s visit softens the angry feelings and brings them one step closer to forgiving each other for good.
