Swifties might want to pay attention to Travis Kelce‘s latest press conference from Las Vegas because it doesn’t sound like Taylor Swift‘s attendance at the Super Bowl is a sure thing. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end made it sound like she’s a “maybe” on the invite list.
Kelce was asked by a reporter if his girlfriend had given him a “Super Bowl pep talk,” and that’s when the NFL star dropped the bomb about Swift. “Nah, she’s focused on entertaining the crowd out in Singapore right now… I think that’s in a few weeks, but I know she’s out in Japan… Tokyo, maybe,” he said, somewhat confused about what country she was even in right now because he’s focused on football. “She’s just working on entertainment them, making sure she’s ready for her performances and everything. But the Super Bowl? We will just worry about if she can make it.”
Swift’s attendance has felt like a done deal ever since the Chiefs captured the AFC conference and Swifties did the time-zone math. Even Donna Kelce was talking to the Today Show about how her seating arrangements at the big game will likely be different from the pop star’s suite. “You can understand that the boxes in Vegas are multi-million dollars,” she explained. “So I have a feeling I’m not in a box, I have a feeling I’m in the stands. As far as I know I’m in the stands with everybody else because it is a pricey Super Bowl.”
What makes this new twist even more crazy is that fact that the press has been pressing Kelce about a possible Super Bowl engagement in front of millions of people. “I’m focused on getting this ring,” the athlete said, referencing a Super Bowl ring, at the Feb. 5 press conference. “That’s all my mind is focused on right now.” He doesn’t seem to be entertaining a public engagement only months after they started dating, but if she’s not in attendance, this isn’t even in the realm of possibility anyway.
And of course, Swift doesn’t want her private jet tracked for obvious safety reasons, so fans might be in the dark about her flight path on Saturday. The Super Bowl week just took a wild turn because fans are expecting Swift to show up, and the CBS likely wants her there because she is a huge ratings draw. How will this story end?
