2024 has been a wild ride for the British royal family. Normally, around this time, the core four are making headlines for their appearances, with Kate Middleton stealing the spotlight with her beloved fashion. However, in Feb 2024, we probably won’t see Kate until after Easter due to her healing from her abdominal surgery, and King Charles III is reeling from his cancer diagnosis. Royal appearances have been at an all-time low, with many active royals working to help Kate and Charles heal. Because of this, experts believe quite a few other royals may step up into the spotlight to help with royal duties.
Phil Dampier told DailyMail that many fear that the British royal family won’t be able to support the philanthropy as much as they did in previous years because of this. That being said, he thinks royals such as Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, her daughter Lady Louise Windsor, and/or Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
So let’s break it down.
Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh is an active royal and has continued her duties, so that should be a given. However, the other three are a bit of a question mark. Dampier said Sophie has been “upping her game and doing a bit more.”
He added though that he thinks her daughter would help the family greatly, saying, “I certainly think there could be a very good role for their daughter Louise Windsor, who has previously chosen not to take a title.”
Along with that, Dampier thinks Beatrice and Eugenie could be brought in “for minor duties,” despite reports saying they won’t be focusing on any royal happenings.
So while we may see more of Sophie and Louise (especially since she has gone to bigger events), it’s still unclear if Beatrice and Eugenie will step up amid the health crisis.
