Usher Just Made a Major Personal Life Change Days Before His Super Bowl Performance

Usher‘s Super Bowl halftime show performance isn’t his only milestone this weekend! Before delivering an action-packed performance at the Allegiant Stadium, the “Burn” singer took a major step forward in his relationship with girlfriend Jennifer Goicoechea.

According to People, Usher and Goicoechea obtained a marriage license in Clark County, Nevada on Thursday, Feb. 8, days before he took on the Super Bowl headlining slot with special guests Alicia Keys, Ludacris and more.

The marriage license has not yet been filed so could there be a Vegas wedding chapel ceremony on the horizon after game day?

Usher and Goicoechea first sparked dating rumors back in 2019 and welcomed their first child together, daughter Sovereign Bo, in 2020. Their son, Sire Castrello, was born in 2021. Usher also shares two sons, Usher V and Naviyd Ely, with his ex-wife, Tameka Foster.

Goicoechea is a successful music executive who was named one of Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players in 2021. It is believed that the couple knew each other for several years before going public with their romance in 2019.

Ahead of his Super Bowl performance, Usher gushed about Goicoechea in an interview with People. “I have an amazing partner, a support system,” he said. “We have an amazing dynamic between our relationship where I’m able to be passionate still about what I do and have an incredible partner to work through some of the harder times as a young man dealing with children.”

“I’m very happy, very fortunate to have an incredible friend, not just a partner,” he added. “She’s my best friend and I love her.”
