Pamela Anderson isn’t taking credit for the makeup-free movement, actresses have done it in the past. However, she’s taking it to a new level, and she wants everyone to know that it’s come out of an authentic desire to just be herself at the age of 56 — no pretenses, no BS — just Pamela.
Some critics thought that her makeup-free face was nothing more than a PR stunt to launch a skincare line, but the Baywatch star is defending everything that has come her way since she arrived at Paris Fashion Week in 2023 in her stunning natural state. “I did that for myself,” Anderson revealed to Allure. “It wasn’t to make a political statement, I just wanted to have my little weird face sticking out of the top of those great clothes … Why am I playing the game?” Of course, that idea to let the clothes do the talking didn’t stop the conspiracy theorists.
“I don’t think you should give me the credit of it being a stunt,” she explained. “Because that’s not how I think. But the timing and the stars aligned. I just thought I’m not competing with all these beautiful people. I felt like the monster, like a little kid in all these beautiful clothes and how lucky am I and I wanted to appreciate it from that point of view.” That coincidental timing not only made her a designer’s dream, but it also led to her deal with Sonsie Skincare in January.
Anderson appreciates that her surprising decision to buck beauty expectations is “resonating” with people. “[The beauty market] is full of false promises and false hope … accepting ourselves for who we are, it just feels necessary,” she added. This isn’t the first time Anderson has taken ownership of her choices. She previously told Vogue France that it was a “freestyle” moment, and that’s why her red-carpet appearance felt so organic. It was just the Home Improvement star making a decision on the whim.
“I don’t need a stylist. I don’t have a stylist. I don’t have a glam team,” she said. “I feel as a woman and a woman of my age, and a woman in the public eye… it’s also your job to be a model of everything. Just all sorts of choices. So I am just being me, kind of who I am, in all these great clothes running around Paris.” Anderson is telling her critics to get used to it because she isn’t interested in running around with a full face of makeup anymore. She loves herself just the way she is.
