Meghan Markle Rebounds From Being Dropped by Spotify With This Major Comeback

Meghan Markle is making her podcast comeback after the end of her Archetypes podcast in 2023. Thanks to a major career update, Markle has found her footing after her cancelled Spotify deal briefly derailed her career goals following her departure from the royal family.

As reported by Deadline, Markle has signed a new podcast deal with Lemonada Media, the company behind Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, The Sarah Silverman Podcast and Hard Feelings with Jeanette McCurdy.

“I’m proud to now be able to share that I am joining the brilliant team at Lemonada to continue my love of podcasting,” said Markle in a statement announcing the new collaboration. Lemonada will not only launch a new show, which remains untitled at the point, but it will also distribute Markle’s Spotify exclusive podcast Archetypes across all platforms.

The podcast, which debuted as Spotify’s No. 1 podcast when it launched in August 2022, hosted conversations with predominately female guests who explored the labels and signifiers holding them back. Guests included Issa Rae, Serena Williams, Mindy Kaling, Pamela Anderson and many more.

However, the podcast was abruptly canceled in July 2023 when the streaming platform revealed they were parting ways with Markle.

Of her new move, Markle also said: “Being able to support a female founded company with a roster of thought provoking and highly entertaining podcasts is a fantastic way to kick off 2024. Our plan to re-release Archetypes so that more people can now have access to it, as well as launching a dynamic new podcast are well in the works. I’m so eager to be able to share it soon, and am overjoyed to be joining the Lemonada family.”

Lemonada Media was founded in 2019 by Jessica Cordova Kramer and Stephanie Wittels Wachs, who also spoke of their joy at having Markle join the network.

“We are beyond honored that Meghan has trusted us to help democratize access to Archetypes, and that so many more people around the world will have access to the series soon. Meghan’s talent as host, creator and conversationalist is unparalleled and we are thrilled to co-create a new series with her that fosters her approach to creating art that matters,” added Lemonada CEO Kramer.

“As we’ve started development with The Duchess of Sussex, we are blown away by her collaborative spirit and clear vision, along with her deep desire to build compassion and community through this work. The Lemonada team felt immediate kinship with Meghan and the Archewell Productions team, and we are delighted to be working together,” added Wachs, who serves as Lemonada’s chief creative officer.
