What marriage rumors? Blake Shelton is making sure everyone knows that things are quite secure between him and his wife, Gwen Stefani. Not only do they have a new single out, “Purple Irises, but he also gave the 54-year-old pop star a shiny — and expensive — Valentine’s Day gift.
Stefani teased her sparkly present during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday night. “I got my Valentine’s present early this year,” she told the late-night host while tapping on a very large ring. The emerald-green bling was hard to miss as the audience hooted and hollered with their approval. Kimmel was dying to know if the country singer picked the gift out by himself or if she had any input — and the answer might surprise you!
“He really mixed it up. Usually, I get amazing flowers, which I love, love, love, but this was just a, ‘here you go!'” Stefani revealed. “Yeah, he did the whole thing.” And then she gave her man a huge shoutout while he watched backstage, “I love you, Blakey!” She also shared that they had quiet Valentine’s Day plans with her sons from her marriage to Gavin Rossdale, Kingston, 17, Zuma, 15, and Apollo, 9, after appearing on the show. But before they left Kimmel’s studio, they managed to squeeze in a performance of their duet.
Earlier this year, fans were worried about Stefani and Shelton’s marriage after they spent New Year’s Eve apart. And it didn’t help that a Life & Style source claimed that their relationship was “definitely in trouble” — the rumors were boiling hot at the time! “Lately, they’ve been at odds about everything from career decisions and the parenting of her three boys to where they spend most of their time,” they alleged. “The tension continues to grow, and Blake and Gwen are drifting apart as a result.”
Well, those stories couldn’t be further from the truth because the two musicians were making music behind the scenes. Sure, they have their own projects to pursue, but their marriage appears to be on solid ground. And Shelton’s gorgeous gift is just the icing on the cake.
