If you’re a fan of Taylor Swift, or the NFL, then you know that the “Lover” singer was by her boyfriendTravis Kelce‘s side throughout many of the Kansas City Chiefs‘ major wins this NFL season. Most recently, of course, Swift cheered and screamed with joy when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl this past Sunday.
With that said, however, victory soon turned into tragedy at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Victory Parade on Wednesday, Feb. 16, when gunfire erupted in downtown Kansas City at the end of the parade. The shots, which injured a total of 30 people, killed Radio DJ and Chiefs fan Lisa Lopez-Galvan, per CNN.
Shortly after the tragic news, a GoFundMe page, with a goal of $75,000, was established on behalf of the family of Lopez-Galvan for her memorial. “Lisa was celebrating the Chiefs Super Bowl Victory parade when senselessly killed,” the page describes. “She is survived by two children and her husband of 22 years. She was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. We ask that you continue to keep her family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of her life. This fund will help provide vital financial support to her family as they process this unthinkable tragedy.”
And, earlier today, Swift made the page’s biggest donation as she donated $100,000 to the cause. Talk about a touching gesture.
“Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss,” the songstress wrote in the caption of her donation, per Entertainment Tonight. “With love, Taylor Swift.”
And while Swift’s donation would be touching no matter the circumstance, knowing Lopez-Galvan was celebrating the Chiefs, and was at a Chiefs event, the gesture shows just how involved she is in the team’s culture now. She’s in the fandom for the long haul, be it good or bad.
As a reminder, Kelce has also posted his message of support since the shooting with a statement on X. “I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today,” the Chiefs tight-end write. “My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me.”
Kudos to these two for showing support when it matters the most.
