Travis Kelce isn’t stressed about the fact that every interview is going to lead down one road: the Taylor Swift obsession. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is happy to talk about his superstar girlfriend with a few boundaries because he has to protect their relationship. Like the true king that he is, he also understands how big of an impact she’s had on the NFL — and that makes him proud.
His interview with sports reporter Lara Okmin on the NFL on Westwood One Sports is making the rounds for his sweet comments about Swift, even though it was conducted ahead of the Super Bowl. Noting that he’s “very aware” of what the 34-year-old singer brings to the table when it comes to her fandom, he adores that “we got her [to be] part of Chiefs Kingdom.” He added, “And sure enough, that brought an entire entourage of human beings who just love to support her and love to support everything that she’s about.”
That means there are more eyeballs are on him and his romantic life, so he’s had to be cautious about that not overshadowing his job on the football field. “Well, the biggest thing for me is … I never want the people in the building to ever have the idea that I’m not focused on the game, I’m not focused on being my best at football and not having all my focus and all my attention to my craft and making sure that I’m accountable in the biggest game of our lives,” Kelce said. He has no worries about that now since his team went on to win their third Super Bowl in four years with a nail-biting finish.
Kelce and Swift got their fairy-tale ending as she flew across the world to see him win and he knows that they have something “special” between them. With his season now over, the attention goes back to Swift and the international leg of the Eras Tour. The 34-year-old athlete is reportedly joining her for the European leg where he hopes to romance her. “He booked some very nice hotels suites and tables at great restaurants to take her on days off,” a source shared with The U.S. Sun. “He wants to take her on romantic getaways to have her relax and go discover those nice cities and European romantic places together.”
The NFL is likely hoping that this relationship goes the distance because it’s created a financial windfall for them and the Kansas City Chiefs. Swift has dramatically changed the equivalent brand value of the team from $166 million to $331.5 million as of Jan. 22, according to Apex Marketing Group president, Eric Smallwood on Fox Business. Her presence is big business and both Swift and Kelce know the pressure is now on their shoulders to keep this romance going.
