As the Super Bowl’sHalftime Show performer this year, Usher had been carefully planning his performance for quite a while now. In fact, while the “My Boo” singer was announced as the performer in September of last year, we’re sure planning started even earlier.
With that said, however, there was another major moment of his Feb. 11 weekend that came together in a totally different way: his wedding to longtime girlfriend Jennifer Goicoechea. As it turns out, unlike his star-studded performance, Usher and Goicoechea’s elopement was a spur-of-the-moment decision with basically no planning involved.
“They didn’t spend months planning it, but it came together beautifully nevertheless,” a source told Us Weekly. “Usher says Jenn’s the best partner he could ever hope for so he figured why not do it in Vegas?” After all, there’s no better place for a spontaneous wedding than Vegas itself. Talk about a happy coincidence!
Usher and Goicoechea, who have been together since 2019, exchanged vows following his performance and celebrated both the Super Bowl and their nuptials that night. For the party, they even wore matching white looks.
“We can confirm Usher and Jennifer Goicoechea took the next step in their relationship and did get married on Sunday night in Las Vegas surrounded by close friends and family,” a rep for the singer confirmed to Us Weekly. “They both look forward to continuing to raise their children together surrounded by love and thank everyone for the well wishes.” The singer and Goicoechea share two kids, Sovereign Bo and Sire Castrello, together.
Prior to the wedding bells, Usher had already hinted at their unwavering commitment to each other. “We’ve obviously made a commitment for life together because of our children,” Usher told People. “It wouldn’t be odd for us to get married. We already did here. You know what I’m saying?”
“We’re going to be in each other’s lives until we die, obviously, because we have something to share,” he continued. “That’s beautiful. Our children. But not because of that. I really do feel like I have an amazing partner that I respect.” Planned or not, we’re happy these two officially tied the knot!
