As one of the most outspoken and fearless celebrities on social media, Paulina Porizkovaisn’t afraid to bare it all, be it physically or emotionally. After all, in addition to starting her campaign #betweenjloandbettywhite, which embraces aging in any form, Porizkova has been open about the many ups and downs in her life, from her late husband’s death to her most recent hip replacement surgery.
In her latest reflection, Porizkova questioned why women are often seen as less sexualized people as they grow older. For her, women, including herself, are actually more empowered and sexual the older they get.
“Did you know that Anne Bancroft, who played the dangerous older woman seductress Mrs Robinson in The Graduate, was 38? And the young man she seduces, Dustin Hofmann, was 30?” Porizkova began her caption on Instagram.
Alongside the thoughtful reflection was a picture of her in her latest Vogue Portugal shoot where she wears only one side of her dress while her boyfriend, Jeff Greenstein, holds one of her breasts.
“Being desirable is having power,” Porizkova continued. “The power of consent. You have what everyone wants, and it is in your power to dispense it to whom you want.”
“The desirability factor of men and women is at the opposite sides of the age spectrum,” she then stated. “A woman loses power with age – and the man gains it.” Looking back at all the celebrity men who often date women half their age, we couldn’t agree more.
“A photo of a young woman displaying her body may seem like an attention getter, but in the order of things – natural,” Porizkova said. “A photo of an older woman displaying her body is unnatural, a desperate plea for attention where she will only look sad and pathetic.” This, of course, could be seen as a jab to all her online haters over the years who have criticized her for showing too much on social media.
“Humans are one of the few species who have sex recreationally. Most of the time when we have sex, it’s for pleasure,” she said. “(From what I see- the people who seem to take the most pleasure in sex are young men and older women.)”
“So why is it that a sexy photo of a girl who doesn’t know much about sex is preferable to that of a mature woman who knows all about it?” Porizkova questioned. “It is the most obvious indication of our patriarchal world in which women have mostly been valued as breeding stock.”
In the comments, fans of hers, much like us, are applauding her for the refreshing point of view. “POWERFUL!! here is the flipping the script on aging, women, and power! 👏👏” wrote one follower. “You are a powerhouse! ✨💥✨” wrote another commenter. “Thank you for speaking up and speaking out on behalf of the more mature women in the world ✨💛✨”
As a cherry on top of her point, Porizkova then posted another skin-baring picture to Instagram while explaining that her first picture, which shows no actual nudity, was removed from Instagram temporarily. “IG pulled AND NOW REINSTATED my photo in which my boyfriend’s hand cups my breast,” she wrote. “(In a way, it perfectly illustrated my point about sex and the older woman being a social taboo.)” Point proved indeed!
