Kelly Rowland’s Today Show Exit Was Reportedly Due to Another Issue Unrelated To Dressing Rooms

Kelly Rowland hasn’t said anything about her exit from the Today show after she was supposed to co-host the fourth hour of the morning series with Hoda Kotb. The 43-year-old star reportedly walked off the set due to her dissatisfaction with the dressing room accommodations at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, but insiders are saying the real reason is not what is being reported.

Rowland, who is a former member of Destiny’s Child, is reportedly tired of all of the Beyoncé questions. She loves the superstar like a sister, but she was there to promote her new Netflix film, Mea Culpa. She appeared in an earlier hour of the Today show and was interviewed by Savannah Guthrie, and that is when things reportedly went downhill, according to The Wrap. “Kelly was upset about Savannah’s aggressive questioning about Beyoncé,” an insider told the outlet. “She and her team were not happy and felt disrespected.”

Beyoncé has been taking the country music world by storm with her catchy single, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” so Guthrie probed her for comment on the successful song. “I’m so proud of her,” replied Rowland, but the Today anchor wasn’t done with the topic.

Guthrie continued, “I know, but were you surprised and what do you think about it?”

Rowland simply stated, “I’m so proud of her. So happy for her.” While news organizations typically won’t agree to any off-limit topics, Rowland’s team reportedly requested that Beyoncé and their former girl group be left out of the conversation. “She wants to leave that behind,” the source added.

The Today show is continuing with the dressing room story with Kotb telling her co-host Jenna Bush Hager this week, “I adore her, and I want her to come back on our show, and I want her to host again,” Kotb shared, “She can share my dressing room, we’ll be in it together.” But Rowland’s team doesn’t sound pleased with that narrative.

“The story was spun that Kelly didn’t like her dressing room, but she has been on the Today show numerous times, she and her team know the dressing room set up. That would not come as a surprise at all,” the insider summed up. Rita Ora stepped in at the last minute to fill the empty co-host spot, but Rowland has yet to publicly comment on whether she will take Kotb’s invitation for a do-over.
