Goldie Hawn Believes She Unlocked the Key to Her Relationship Success With Kurt Russell

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have been together for over four decades and haven’t even bother to rush down the aisle. Their relationship holds more value than just a legal document, and that might be why they are one of Hollywood’s most enduring power couples

The 78-year-old actress shared her thoughts on the key to their romantic success on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast. “If we were married, there probably could have been times where you go, ‘Oh, c’mon — I’m done,'” she explained. “What I like is waking up in the morning… and actually making a choice to be with someone. I got a wild guy here… I picked him,” she said. “I like that guy.” That “choice” comes out of their experiences in having been married to other people before.

Hawn was married to Gus Trikonis from 1969 until 1976, and then Bill Hudson from 1976 until 1982, who is the biological father of Kate Hudson, 44, and Oliver Hudson, 47, even though they recognize Russell as their true dad. Russell’s first wife was actress Season Hubley and their four-year marriage produced their son, Boston Russell, 44. Hawn and Russell hooked up on the set of Overboardand their lives have been intertwined ever since after having son Wyatt Russell, 37, together — it’s one big, blended family!

The Private Benjamin star admitted that their parenting styles have always been very different, but she thinks it’s brought a nice balance to their household. “We don’t agree on certain things. He was tougher than me as a parent,” she said of her 72-year-old beau. “…But we have a very, very strong family because of it.” And Russell set the bar high — Hawn knew she had met the gold standard for a loving partner and father.

“Nobody came up to who he is,” she said. “He still brings me my coffee in the morning. He grabbed me the other day and kissed me all over my face and I kissed him back.” Awww, we love celebrity PDA! Their decision to never marry used to seem controversial decades ago, but now it’s quite an accepted practice for younger generations on the road Russell and Hawn helped pave. She has no regrets with her choice either, sharing, “I’m really happy I stayed.”
