When it comes to Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin, they’re a bit of an enigma. While they’ve been dating for years now, they remain one of the most private couples in Hollywood to date. Recently, Johnson did a rare interview about filming, her perspectives on life, and Martin. Soon after this, sources claimed they got engaged after six years together. However, right after this, different sources told another story, making everyone as confused as can be.
In case you missed it, the Mirror claimed that after six years together, Martin proposed to Johnson “a while ago,” adding that, “They have been besotted with each other from day one so taking this next step was inevitable.”
However, the next day, numerous outlets claimed that the pair had actually been engaged “for years.” A close source told People that Johnson and Martin “got engaged years ago but were in no rush to get married.”
Now, these contradicting sources beg the questions, “when did Johnson and Martin get engaged?” and “Did they even get engaged yet?!”
Here’s what we do know: the lovebirds started dating in 2017 after being set up by mutual friends, and seven years later, they seem more in love than ever. They didn’t confirm their relationship until a year later, and they moved in together in 2021.
From what we gather, it seems that the two may be engaged as of March 2024, but chances are, knowing how private the two are about their relationship, we probably won’t hear about it from them until a few years down the line.
We truly adore the private couple, and we hope they’re having the best time together.
And in a recent interview with Bustle, she gave rare details about their romance, talking about how much she adores seeing him perform. “I love watching him. I could watch him every day. I don’t know how to explain it. I feel like, I don’t know… I’m watching my most favorite being do his most favorite thing. When people are really good at things, it is [sexy.]”
