When you attend the Academy Awards, you want the entire night to go smoothly — even if you aren’t a nominee. Well, Liza Koshy will have a red-carpet moment she will never forget after she took a tumble while walking the press line.
The 27-year-old actress looked stunning in her gorgeous off-the-shoulder red gown with its tight bodice and billowing fabric at the train. Koshy’s stylist, Jacqueline Zenere, revealed on her Instagram Story, that the stunning design was created by Marchesa as she gave a glimpse of the exquisite rose seen on her sleeves. Fans also got a glimpse of the underpinning options which included Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS, Victoria’s Secret, and Spanx — yep, it’s tough to be glamorous! The prep work for the Oscars went perfectly until Koshy hit her first red carpet-moment.
As she went to pose for the throngs of photographers, she took a graceful tumble backward and landed on her bottom. (See the video HERE.) Koshy looked startled that she went from upright to horizontal, but she handled the moment like a total pro as two publicists rushed to her side to help her stand up. What could have caused such a tumble? Well, look no further than her matching platform heels.
As she landed on the red carpet, her sky-high shoes peeped from the bottom of the gown. Now, these weren’t any ordinary heels, they were full of drama — red, patent leather, and so tall that even a dancer would have struggled in that moment. It’s possible that the train on her gown was too long and her shoe got caught the fabric. And don’t forget that Koshy is petite! It might have been easier to add height to her five-foot frame with shoes than do elaborate tailoring. (Remember, a lot of red carpet-dresses are borrowed from designers for the event.)
We love that Koshy kept a smile on her face and she was even spotted laughing after it happened. Of course, the show must go on and she strutted ahead looking her Oscars best — it’s one way to shake out the nerves ahead of the ceremony. Koshy can hopefully look forward to a peaceful night after an unexpected tumble.
