Despite fans getting their hopes up, Bradley Cooper didn’t take Gigi Hadid as his date to the 2024 Oscars, or the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, and we might finally know why.
It was a big night for Cooper, 49, who was nominated for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Picture for his critically-acclaimed film Maestro. But instead of walking the red carpet with girlfriend of several months, Hadid, the actor took his mom Gloria Campano to the award show.
Now, a source tellsUs Weekly that Hadid, 28, and Cooper were originally planning to make their red carpet debut at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscars Party but a last minute change in the model’s schedule derailed their date night.
The source claims that while Cooper attended the prestigious ceremony, Hadid was back in New York City. “She ended up taking a job and had to go back,” the source alleges.

In the lead up to the Oscars, sources speculated that the couple would attend either the main show or the after party together and when Hadid debuted a new hairdo hours before the big show, fans were almost totally convinced that she was planning to make a dramatic red carpet appearance. However, it seems the couple are still going strong and continuing to keep their relationship private. The couple, who were first linked back in October 2023, are reported to be “in love.”
Cooper decision to bring his mom to the Oscars even made him vulnerable to a call out in host Jimmy Kimmel’s opening monologue. “Bradley brings his mother to every award show, right? Last year at the Oscars, and the Tonys and the Soul Train Awards,” the host sat while Cooper and Campano watched from the audience.
“It’s very sweet, but I guess the question is ― how many times can one bring his mom as his date before he is actually dating his mom?” Kimmel joked. “Are you working on a movie about Freud right now and not telling us?”
Maestro was nominated for a total of seven Oscars including a Best Director nomination for Cooper, Best Actor mention for his portrayal of composer Leonard Bernstein. The movie was also nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Best Sound. Carey Mulligan also earned a nod for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Bernstein’s wife, Felicia Montealegre. However, the movie failed to take home any trophies with Oppenheimer taking home awards in each of the categories that Cooper was nominated in.
