Gwyneth Paltrow Admits She Was ‘Upset’ When Kourtney Kardashian Launched Poosh But It’s Not What You’d Expect

Whether you love them or love to hate them, countless celebrities have now come out with their own businesses. And while many of them have found a niche in the market, like Kim Kardashian when she first launched SKIMS, other celebrity beauty brands have been pinned directly against one another.

For Gwyneth Paltrow and Kourtney Kardashian, who have lifestyle brands Goop and Poosh, respectively, it seems like the competition has never got to them.

Talking about the topic with People, Paltrow even admitted that the comparisons between their brands bothered her. “I was so upset when Poosh was launched and people were like, ‘This is a ripoff of Goop,'” the Oscar winner told the outlet. “I was like, this is so awful, and trying to pit us against one another, which is so crazy.”

As a reminder, Paltrow launched Goop in 2008 while Kardashian launched her website many years later in 2019.

“The world is better and stronger when women are in cahoots with one another,” Paltrow poignantly added. “I feel like the patriarchy does this thing to us where they make us feel scarcity and that there’s not enough for all of us to do our thing. And it’s so detrimental.”

In fact, not only have the two brands grown and prospered right next to each other, but they’ve even collaborated too. In 2022, Paltrow and Kardashian released a candle together titled “This Smells Like My Pooshy.” “I thought it was hilarious,” she added.

At the time, Kardashian echoed Paltrow’s feelings. “I love that we’re using this collab as an opportunity to share the message that there’s space for everyone in the health and wellness community and that we don’t have to pit women and their brands against each other,” the mom of four said in a statement.

“The wellness community focuses on sharing positive information that can help make people’s lives better, so I believe there is space, and actually a need, for anyone who contributes and believes in this cause,” she continued. “I’ve always supported and looked up to Gwyneth for paving the way for wellness-focused lifestyle brands like mine, and I am so happy that we were able to work on a project together, and I hope that there’s more to come!”

Congratulations to these two for always lifting each other up rather than tearing each other down!
