Unless you’ve been away from social media in the past few weeks, then you know that speculations about Kate Middleton‘s recovery and whereabouts have been at an all-time high. And while many conspiracy theories are pure fiction, there’s something to be said about how little the public knows about what’s going on with the Princess of Wales.
In a new report, insiders are sharing what Middleton’s recovery has looked like for senior staffers of the royal, and it seems like they’re in the dark just as much as the rest of the world. “A few of Kate’s senior staffers haven’t been able to see or speak to her, and they didn’t even know about the surgery until it was announced, so it’s caught them off guard,” the source told Us Weekly. “Only a few people know what’s really going on, and they’re tight-lipped.”
And while some members of her inner circle, like King Charles III and Queen Camilla, know what’s happening, everything else has been reported covered in a “shroud of secrecy.” “It’s confusing and causing some concern,” the source added of her staffers.
As for why the mom of three decided to keep things so secretive, a source said the royal felt like she deserved her privacy. “Kate’s said she feels she’s entitled to heal and recuperate without all of this frenzied speculation,” the source explained. “Neither Kate nor William think her medical records should be for public consumption.”
With that said, however, she couldn’t help but see all the chatter online. “She’s trying not to pay attention to all the rumors and gossip, and William is doing his best to shield her, but it’s distressing,” the source added.
In fact, Middleton’s name has been trending on social media for weeks now. “This has been a stressful time for William and Kate, but they’re made of tough stuff and are weathering through,” the source said.
As for the next steps, it seems like Middleton is focusing on her recovery to get back to her royal duties. “Kate’s extremely keen to get back to work,” the source said. “This has been one of the most challenging months for Kate as a royal, and she’s praying the fuss dies down as soon as possible.”
