Kristin Cavallari’s Latest Confession Proves She’s Not Afraid To Defend Her Age Gap Relationship

Whether you cheered or cringed when Kristin Cavallari went social media official with her new beau, 24-year-old former college athlete Mark Estes, the former reality star is proving that she’s not paying much attention to everyone’s reaction. In fact, she’s focusing on her new relationship and living her best life instead.

“I want you guys to know that me dating a 24-year-old is not something that I was searching out, it’s not something that I thought would ever happen,” Cavallari admitted in the most recent episode of her podcast, Let’s Be Honest. “If you guys listen to the podcast you know, I thought 30-year-olds were too young for me.”

With that said, however, her new boyfriend is not like she expected. “I understand what it looks like to the outside world, I really do. He’s not a typical 24-year-old in the same way that I don’t think I was a typical 24-year-old,” she said. “I really think age is just a number. It’s what you’ve been through in your life, how you were raised, there are just so many factors that go into maturity.”

“Obviously I thought he was the hottest guy I’ve ever seen but when I met him I was like, ‘He’s actually I really nice, good guy,'” she continued.

Most of all, it seems like she hadn’t been having much luck with dating men her age or older either. “The older guys I’ve dated have been boring, they want to control me and compete with me, everything is about ego and money and I can’t do that ever again,” she said.

As a reminder, Cavallari was married to NFL player Jay Cutler from 2013 to 2022. Together, the pair shares three kids.

Cavallari then went on to question why people are getting so heated in the first place. “It is crazy that men can have a 20, 25-year age gap and that’s okay,” she said.

As for how she’s handling her relationship now, Cavallari said she’s focusing on the present. “I am dating someone, there’s a chance it might not work out. Not all of my ex-boyfriends worked out, I hate to break it to you. So f— what?” she said. “I’m really happy right now and I’m enjoying right now and I’m not thinking about in a year or in five years, right now I’m thinking about right now. This man makes me really happy at the moment and that’s where I’m at.” Cheers to that!
