Sharon Stone Reignites a Feud With Billy Baldwin That Began Over 30 Years Ago

In 2021, Sharon Stoneshared a story in her memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice, about a Hollywood producer who reportedly suggested that she sleep with her co-star Billy Baldwin during the filming of the 1993 movie, Sliver. She never revealed who made such a problematic statement — until now.

On a recent appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, the 66-year-old star revealed it was the late Paramount Pictures head Robert Evans, who thought it was a good idea to generate some on-screen heat with Baldwin by spending some naked time with him off-screen. “[Evans is] running around his office in sunglasses explaining that he slept with Ava Gardner, and I should sleep with Billy Baldwin, because [then] his performance would get better,” she recalled. “If I could sleep with Billy, then we’d have chemistry on screen and save the movie.”

Stone even compared Baldwin to Michael Douglas, who “could come to work and know how to hit those marks, and do that line, and rehearse and show up” during the filming of Basic Instinct. She implied that Baldwin was less than professional. Well, it sounds like Baldwin had enough and he fired off a rather lengthy post on X — he was mad!

“Not sure why Sharon Stone keep talking about me all these years later?” Baldwin wrote. “Does she still have a crush on me or is she still hurt after all these years because I shunned her advances?”

He continued, “I have so much dirt on her it would make her head spin, but I’ve kept quiet.” And it sounds like Baldwin has a much different tale to their lack of on-screen chemistry. “The story of the meeting I had with Bob Evans imploring him allow me to choreograph the final sex scene in the photo below so I wouldn’t have to kiss Sharon is absolute legend,” he concluded. “Wonder if I should write a book and tell the many, many disturbing, kinky and unprofessional tales about Sharon? That might be fun.”

Sliver bombed at the box office even though Stone was hot off the success of Basic Instinct. The erotic drama seemed to be more interesting for its off-screen theatrics than the storyline on-screen. The movie’s screenwriter, Joe Eszterhas alleged in his book, American Rhapsody, per Buzzfeed, that Stone’s hatred for Baldwin was so intense that she bit his tongue during a romantic scene. The actress later denied that claim in a statement, “If I could sleep with Billy, then we’d have chemistry on screen and save the movie.”

So, if fans were waiting for a sequel to Sliver, it’s definitely not happening because this three decades-old feud doesn’t seem to have a happy ending.
