Jennifer Lopez’s Mysteriously Canceled Concerts Has Fans Wondering About Her Music Career

Jennifer Lopez‘s latest chapter in her successful career might have hit a bump in the road. She heavily promoted her documentary, and movie musical to support her new album, This Is Me…Now, but fans might not be as excited by her latest music as she had hoped.

Lopez recently canceled a stretch of seven dates from her upcoming tour on Aug. 20-31 in Cleveland, Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa, New Orleans and Houston. Ticketmaster’s cancellations notice reads, “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event. No action is required to obtain a refund.” But, according to EW, it was due to “a logistical issue through the promoter forced the last several dates to be canceled” with the “potential” to reschedule the dates in the return. However, Variety is reporting that the 54-year-old triple threat is seeing less-than-ideal ticket sales in her remaining 30 shows.

The outlet noted the “large numbers of tickets at most of the tour’s dates remain unsold,” after examining her tour dates on Ticketmaster.com. “While such charts are not always completely accurate, the blue (available) segments of the seating charts on most dates are overwhelmingly larger than the grey (unavailable) ones,” they added. Lopez gambled on herself with a $20 million investment in her project, so she probably would like to earn some of that money back through a lucrative tour.

Fans and critics on X have an opinion on why Lopez’s ticket sales seem to be sluggish, though. “Charging upwards of $1500 thinking she’s Beyoncé,” wrote one account. One supporter seems to think that a filming issue came into play and caused the cancellation, claiming, “fake news. she has to shoot a movie late August.” Another social media blamed her management team, not J.Lo for the issue, noting, “You’d think her team would have a good sense of demand before sked dates.”

Lopez doesn’t seem to be worried as she continues to promote the dates that tickets are available on her tour — and she’s really “proud” of the work she put in on her new album. “I feel like this is the best album that I’ve ever made,” Lopez told Billboard. “The most honest and true – it took a long time for me as a musical artist to get there. I’m really happy and proud of this in a way that I don’t think I ever have been before.”
