Kate Middleton’s Efforts to Keep Her Medical History a Secret Just Hit a Major Speed Bump

While there have been many alarming things about Kate Middleton‘s absence, from the Photoshopped Mother’s Day image to her recent suspicious video of grocery shopping, what began the speculation in the first place was the sheer lack of information. After all, while we knew that Middleton was having abdominal surgery, the public knew few details about her condition and her recovery. So, of course, curiosity about what Middleton actually underwent has been rising and rising.

Sadly for Middleton’s sake, however, her attempt to keep it all under wraps has hit a major speed bump: there was reportedly a security breach at the hospital where she was treated. According to Daily Mail, at least one member of The London Clinic recently tried to access the royal’s medical records. 

“This is a major security breach and incredibly damaging for the hospital, given its unblemished reputation for treating members of the Royal Family,” one insider from the hospital told the outlet.

Per the insider, Middleton was aware of the issue right after it happened. “Senior hospital bosses contacted Kensington Palace immediately after the incident was brought to their attention and assured the palace there would be a full investigation,” the source said. “The whole medical staff have been left utterly shocked and distraught over the allegations and were very hurt that a trusted colleague could have allegedly been responsible for such a breach of trust and ethics.”

A spokesperson for the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) also confirmed the issue. “We can confirm that we have received a breach report and are assessing the information provided,” they said.

While Middleton’s medical records have yet to become public, sources have explained in the past why the mom of three chose to keep quiet. “Kate’s said she feels she’s entitled to heal and recuperate without all of this frenzied speculation,” the source told Us Weekly. “Neither Kate nor William think her medical records should be for public consumption.”

For the sake of Middleton’s recovery, we hope she continues to get the privacy she deserves.
