Nicole Kidman Broke Down What Her Red Carpet Experience Looks Like & It’s as Relatable as It Gets

Whether she’s flying solo or attending the carpet with her husbandKeith Urban, Nicole Kidman knows a thing or two about rocking a red carpet. And while the Oscar winner always looks fierce in premieres and awards shows, it seems like what goes on behind the scenes is a whole other story.

Talking to Elle as their new cover story, the Expats star admitted to not being the biggest fan of red carpets. “It feels a little unreal at times,” she told the outlet. “I want to get out, take my dress off, and put my jammies on. It’s kind of like the opposite of Cinderella—I’m happy to go home and just go back to me.”

“It does feel a little overwhelming,” she continued. “I’m like, ‘I need to go home now. I’m very tired. I want to get warm, and I want to curl up, and I want to feel real.'”

And while many of us have never walked a red carpet, we can all relate to feeling too tired to look amazing or to be social. We’re right there with you, Nicole!

With all that said, Kidman also talked about how her life is so much more than what meets the public eye. “I have a very full life with people that I love,” she told the outlet. As a reminder, she shares daughters Sunday, 15, and Faith, 13, with Urban as well as older kids Isabella, 31, and Connor, 29, with ex-husband Tom Cruise.

“I’m raising daughters. I’m a wife, I’m a best friend. I’m a sister, I’m an aunt. I have deeply intimate relationships with people,” the actress listed. “And that, to me, is the meaning of life—and then taking care of what we leave behind, who we leave behind and how we do that, and our sense of respect for that.” May we all learn a bit from Kidman here!
