With her first tell-all memoir officially out, Rebel Wilson put all her cards on the table. From talking about her relationship history to her complicated dynamic with a co-star, Wilson opened up to the world for the first time in her new memoir, Rebel Rising.
In one of the most shocking stories in the book, Wilson remembered working with comedian Sacha Baron Cohen in the 2016 comedy The Brothers Grimsby. Among the absurd things Cohen allegedly did was pressuring her to streak in the film and asking her to stick a finger up his butt in one scene. “I was now scared,” Wilson wrote, per Entertainment Tonight. “I wanted to get out of there, so I finally compromised: I slapped him on the a– and improvised a few lines as the character.”
Looking back at their contentious relationship at Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Wilson said no amount of money would convince her to work with him again.
“No money ever,” she replied. “I have now a no a–holes policy with work.”
She then went to nod her head when Cohen asked if she’d take $20 or $50 million to work with him again. Given her confident headshakes, it’s clear that no millionaire paycheck would put her in that position again.
As a reminder, Wilson and Cohen’s feud first went public when the Pitch Perfect star took to Instagram to defend herself. “I will not be bullied or silenced with high-priced lawyer or PR crisis managers,” Wilson wrote. “The ‘a—’ that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is Sasha Baron Cohen.”
“He is trying to stop press coming out about my book,” Wilson continued of Cohen’s efforts, per Us Weekly. “But the book WILL come out and you will all know the truth. Rebel xoxo.”
Following the headlines, Cohen released a statement. “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby,” the rep said in a statement to Deadline.
With her book now reaching across the world, and her feeling confident she’ll never have to see him again, it looks like Wilson got the last laugh.
