Kaia Gerber Reveals the Terrifying Thing Her Mom Cindy Crawford Did to Get Her Ready for the Runway

With a mother like Cindy Crawford, Kaia Gerber had quite the role model to look up to when getting into modeling. And while having the supermodel mom undeniably helped her career, Gerber also admits that her advice sometimes spooked her out too.

In an appearance at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Gerber remembered the unique thing Crawford did before her runway debut. “I remember right before I was going to do my first-ever fashion show, she sat me down and had my whole family gather around and played me compilation videos of models falling,” Gerber said. “I think to be like, ‘This is the worst-case scenario.'”

“I was like ‘I didn’t even know you could fall this many different ways,'” she joked. “But knock on wood, I haven’t ever fallen.”

“Maybe she scared me enough that I didn’t fall,” thePalm Royale star added.

Last month, Gerber opened up to the Wall Street Journal about looking up to her mom, and how watching her docuseries TheSuper Models changed her perception of Crawford.

“I was like, ‘I didn’t realize. I knew you were iconic, but …’ I didn’t understand when I was younger,” she recalled telling her mom. “I was starstruck in front of her after.”

Looking back at her mother’s career, Gerber couldn’t help but gush. “What she made of her career, there wasn’t really someone’s footsteps to follow,” Kaia said. “And I thought it was so cool that she always had that ambition, and she did things where people told her, ‘This will ruin your career. Don’t do this.’ And she trusted her instincts.”

With a mom as cool as accomplished as that, it’s no wonder Gerber can always count on her, and her dad Rande Gerber, for support. “I can actually ask my parents [for] advice on career things, on business things,” she told the outlet. “That’s very rare, to have parents who are in the same industry or career as you, whose advice you actually can trust.”

From sage advice to worst-case-scenario videos, it looks like Crawford’s mentorship has truly worked!
