While we don’t necessarily feel like couples need to have the same hobbies or interests to make their relationships work (opposites attract, after all), many couples can’t help but be interested in each other’s passions. For Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, it seems there’s one thing the pair now bond over: their love for polo.
According to Variety, Markle and Harry, who is a longtime polo player, recently embarked as executive producers for a Netflix project all about the polo sport. The series will be primarily shot at the U.S. Open Polo Championship in Wellington, Florida.
Per the source, the project, which is currently in pre-production, “will provide viewers unprecedented access to the world of professional polo.”
“Known primarily for its aesthetic and social scene, the series will pull the curtain back on the grit and passion of the sport, capturing players and all it takes to compete at the highest level,” the statement continued.
In addition to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Chanel Pysnik, Ian Samplin and Boardwalk Pictures’ Andrew Fried, Sarina Roma and Dane Lillegard are all set to executive produce. The series will be showrun by the Emmy award-winning filmmaker behind Welcome to Wrexham, Miloš Balać.
And while this series alone is enough to make polo and Sussex fans excited, Variety also revealed another one of Markle’s projects. Per the outlet, Markle will also release another series that celebrates “the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship.” Sounds familiar to her lifestyle brand, doesn’t it?
Behind that series will be Selena + Chef showrunner Leah Hariton and My Next Guest Needs No Introduction director Michael Steed. Sony Pictures Television’s Intellectual Property Corporation will produce the series and Meghan, Hariton, Pysnik, and IPC’s Aaron Saidman and Eli Holzman will executive produce.
Looks like the Sussexes have quite a busy schedule ahead of them!
