While Hollywood is filled with couples who can’t help but gush about each other, Orlando Bloom‘s latest confession about his relationship with Katy Perry has us reflecting too. After all, he’s not afraid to admit that being together all this time takes a lot of effort too.
Talking to Entertainment Tonight ahead of his new series, Orlando Bloom: To the Edge, Bloom said Perry has been his number one supporter. “It’s so encouraging… we’re both, I think, you know, cheerleaders for each other,” Bloom told the outlet.
And, in addition to supporting him every day, Bloom said Perry motivates him to continue changing and evolving. “She definitely pushes me to be the best version of myself and we both hold each other accountable as best we can,” he said.
“That’s part of what, you know, works for us as a couple, trying to evolve,” he continued. “Her support was, you know, obviously immensely important and always is.”
Talking to Trevor Noah in the What Now? with Trevor Noah podcast, Bloom reiterated those feelings, noting that the “Teenage Dream” singer “demands that I evolve.”
“I feel I do the same for her. And that makes for fireworks, pardon the pun,” he said, referring to Perry’s hit single with the same name. “But it also makes for a lot of fun and a lot of growth.”
Pushing each other to do and be better, of course, isn’t a straightforward path. “I wouldn’t change it for anything, even when sometimes it feels like, ‘how do we do this?'” he said. “Because we’ve got these two giant careers and lives, and hers is even, you know… it’s like a universe sometimes.”
“I think I just keep coming back to her and trying to hold her hand and walk her back to the sand pit and be like… ‘We’re just gonna build a sandcastle,'” he said. Talk about a healthy perspective!
