Many fans were excited at the time that Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher returned to the That 70s Show universe by making a cameo in the spinoff That 90s Show. While most of the OG cast is returning for season two of the spinoff, Kunis confirmed she and Kutcher won’t be returning.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kunis confirmed that neither she nor Kutcher will be returning to the show.
“No. I mean, we did our thing, and I think they introduced the son right, like it was our son in the show and that was, you know, [enough].”
This makes sense considering how much backlash they got for defending their former co-star, convicted rapist Danny Masterson. So, this may be a part of them trying to distance themselves even further from the situation. Or it could be that they felt they weren’t needed to revive their roles.
That 70’s Show was a hit series starring Kunis, Kutcher, Masterson, and many others that followed a group of teens living in Wisconsin in the 1970s. It later inspired two spinoffs, with the more popular one being That 90s Show, which is a Netflix show that follows the OG gang’s kids. (There’s also the short-lived That 80s Show, which is a trip, to say the least).
So if you’re wondering why Kunis and Kutcher won’t return, it may be because they may be stepping back from the show since it was what connected them to convicted rapist, Masteron, whom they supported amid his trial.
Kunis and Kutcher have been mostly MIA since it came to light that they supported convicted rapist Masterson. After That 70’s Show star Masterson was sentenced to serve 30 years to life in prison for raping two women, letters from Kutcher and Kunis that tried to convince the judge of leniency were leaked. They created an apology video, but it received more criticism.
Since then, Kunis has been stepping back into the spotlight a bit, and even walked the red carpet again last week.
