Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck Are Reportedly Finding That Long-Distance Marriage Isn’t for Them

Does long distance make the heart grow fonder? That’s what Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are reportedly experiencing right now as they film separate projects on two different coasts. Affleck is busy with the sequel to The Accountant in Los Angeles and Lopez is singing and dancing her way through the movie musical, Kiss of the Spider Woman in New York City.

“This is the first long stretch they’ve spent apart in a while,” an insider revealed to OK! magazine. “And they’re both dealing with it in different ways.” According to the source, Affleck isn’t bothered by the distance right now because he is incredibly focused on his work. For the 54-year-old superstar, it’s a little more challenging. “She wants constant affirmation from him that she’s loved and adored,” they alleged. “But she’s not getting much of that now and Ben gets defensive and moody.”

Anyone who has endured a long-distance relationship knows that the ups and downs are not for the faint of heart — it’s not easy. While the insider is claiming that “the honeymoon is definitely over,” we have a feeling that is a bit of a dramatic take. Entertainment Tonight‘s sources are singing a much different tune. “Jen and Ben are doing well and are very happy together. Their kids bring them even closer together and keep them humble,” they said. “Jen and Ben are supportive of one another and just want the best for their relationship and family.”

Even with the disappointing sales of Lopez’s album and tour for This Is Me… Now, Affleck has stood by her side. “Ben is 100 percent supportive of Jen and keeps it real with her. They both know this is part of the business and remind each other that you can’t please everyone. They acknowledge what really matters, lift each other up, and encourage each other’s talents and capabilities,” the insider added. The OK! magazine source seems to think the duo will have to “make some adjustments in their behavior,” but marriage is always about working and growing together.

So, the distance is likely a strain on their relationship since they have long days on set, and they are working in different time zones. But we aren’t counting out Lopez and Affleck because they fought too hard to give their love a second chance.
