It’s no secret that the British royal family is going through a lot right now with both King Charles III and Kate Middleton undergoing cancer treatments. But while some royal fans might be worried about their business, Prince William is focusing on much more than just his duties right now. After all, both his dad and his wife are going through a beyond difficult time right now.
According to new sources for People, the Prince of Wales is feeling vulnerable, but hanging in there. “Whether you’re a prince or a pauper, no one would expect anything like this with his father and his wife both being treated for cancer,” a royal insider told the outlet. “William is digging deep.”
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward told the outlet that Middleton’s health right now is William’s top priority. “For William, everything hinges on Kate’s well-being,” the My Mother and I author said.
“William is prioritizing giving her all the time she needs to get better and the support, particularly to the children,” another source said. As a reminder, the Waleses share kids George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.
“The double illness has placed enormous pressure on William, both as a parent and inheritor of the family business,” echoed royal biographer Robert Lacey. “It has brought all kinds of challenges. He [has handled] it with calmness and lack of drama.”
“From what we know of their personal lives, for William and Kate, spending time with their children is the most precious and enjoyable thing they can do,” Lacey added.
From all accounts, it seems like William might be having a hard time coping with all the pressure, but that’s far from surprising given everything that’s going on.
Most recently, sources even revealed William and Middleton might be revisiting their feud with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, in a way to get more support during this hard time, but also for the sake of their children. According to Us Weekly, Middleton is reportedly “done with all the bad blood” between them. “They want a relationship with Meghan and Harry, and they don’t want the acrimony to carry over to the next generation,” the insider added. Harry and Markle share kids Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2.
Knowing how stressed William might be feeling right now, a family reconciliation seems like the perfect good news, right?
