Tom Brady’s roast on Netflix was four days ago and people are still talking about some of the inappropriate jokes that took digs at his exes, Bridget Moynahan and Gisele Bündchen. Both women have reportedly expressed their displeasure to the former NFL star behind the scenes as Brady broke a promise to the 43-year-old supermodel that was a personal part of their divorce.
It seems that the 46-year-old athlete crossed the line and didn’t adhere to their “no disparaging remarks” rule, according to an Us Weekly source. “She is definitely offended and upset about the comments made at the roast,” the insider added while noting that Bündchen “is aware that it comes with the territory of a roast but didn’t think there were going to be that many remarks made about her and especially her new relationship” with jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente. That seems like a fair consideration because their divorce is less than two years old — and there are probably a few open wounds that have yet to be healed.
The good news is that “Tom did reach out to Gisele to apologize to her,” but this probably didn’t help their co-parenting relationship which the pal described as only “cordial” right now. A Brady friend defended his decision to participate in the roast and pointed out that “just like with any roast, neither Tom nor any of the participants knew what was going to be said about them” before the broadcast. Even though the goal is to “target public parts of your life,” the timing might have been too much, too soon.
Moynahan, the mother of his eldest son, Jack, 16, posted a cryptic message on her Instagram page just one day after the Netflix show. “Loyal people take s**t more personal because they would’ve did that s**t to you.” Her followers wholeheartedly agreed with her in the comments. One fan wrote, “Brady must love the spotlight. His kids and previous romantic relationships should have been off-limits. I find it very hurtful for all of them.” Bündchen likely felt equally as protective of the two children she shares with Brady, son Benjamin, 14, and daughter Vivian, 11. They were in mama-bear mode!
Hopefully, Brady learned his lesson that what happens off the field is more important than the limelight. A promise is a promise, even in the name of comedy.
