When news broke of Catherine Zeta-Jones playing Morticia Addams, everyone lost it; and years later, she’s reminding us that she was the perfect actress to play the gothic matriarch.
On May 25, Zeta-Jones shared a throwback photo that has fans truly losing it, one where she rocks a rather gothic look, similar to her recent role in the hit Netflix show Wednesday. She shared the photo with the caption reading, “Morticia Addams in her twenties! I guess I was just waiting for that box to open😂🖤.”
In the throwback, black and white photo, we see Zeta-Jones looking oh-so enchanting in the all-black leather look, and of course, it just shows she was born to play Morticia, as she put it.
For those who don’t know, Zeta-Jones plays Morticia Addams in the Netflix show Wednesday, which follows the misadventures and mysteries Wednesday Addams (played by Jenna Ortega) uncovers. Zeta=Jones’ character is the mother of the family, who adores her children, is madly in love with her husband Gomez, and has a penchant for all things dark.
In a previous interview with Netflix, Zeta-Jones even talked about how she’d adored the iconic family forever. “When I was a kid, I remember thinking it would be so cool to be an Addams,” she says of the creepy, kooky brood. “They seem to be so happy being as crazy as they are.”
So, given this photo, her love of darkness, and her adoration for the Addams Family, there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that she was perfect for the TV role.
