With engagement rumors still swirling about Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson, another source is making us rethink everything about their ultra-private relationship.
It all started when a fan of Martin called Saundra Glenn shared on social media that the Coldplay vocalist helped her out before hitting the stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend. According to The Standard, Martin swooped in and gave her a ride when he saw that she was struggling to reach the festival’s accessibility box office due to osteoarthritis and issues with her hip, knee, and ankle.
Sharing the sweet moment on Twitter, Glenn captioned a smiley selfie of them together. “That moment when Chris Martin @Coldplay saw me struggling to walk, had his car stop and gave me a lift,” Glenn wrote. “Blooming amazing. Can’t believe this happened. What a decent bloke.”
What followed in Glenn’s tweet, however, left many fans scratching their heads. “We had a nice chat too,” she added. “He is single and likes #Luton. Thx again @BBCR1. #BigWeekend #SeeMyLuton.”
If you’re reading this just like we did, you might be asking yourself ‘Single?’ Last time we heard, he was one step away from marriage!
Unfortunately, since Glenn tweeted that initial photo, she hasn’t clarified her “single” mention either. “Single? Like he broke up with Dakota?” wrote an X user underneath her post. “Hi girl, can you explain what do you mean with ‘single’ we would appreciate it because you created a lot of heart attacks, thank you so much 😂,” pleaded another.
Prior to this reported 180, sources had speculated about the timeline of Martin and Johnson’s engagement in March. According to the Mirror, Martin proposed to Johnson “a while ago.” “They have been besotted with each other from day one so taking this next step was inevitable,” the source said.
The next day, however, numerous outlets claimed that the pair had actually been engaged “for years.” A close source told Peoplethat Johnson and Martin “got engaged years ago but were in no rush to get married.”
Despite the confusion, here’s what we know for certain: the lovebirds started dating in 2017 after being set up by mutual friends and confirmed their relationship almost a year later. In 2021, they reportedly moved in together.
To know what happens next between them, whether it’s a split or a walk down the aisle, we’ll just have to stay tuned.
